Ypsilanti Area Community Fund
The
Ypsilanti Area
Community Fund (YACF) is a geographic affiliate fund of the
Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation serving residents of the
Ypsilanti area. Grants recommendations are made by the
YACF Grant Committee which is composed of local community
volunteers who live or work in Ypsilanti. Suggested
grant request is in the $2,000-$5,000 range.
Funding Priorities
Funding is provided for
organizations and programs in the greater Ypsilanti area.
What is Not Funded
YACF does not typically award
grants for:

construction projects (new building or routine
maintenance)

annual giving campaigns
-
normal operating expenses (except for start-up purposes)
-
fundraising events
-
religious or sectarian purposes
-
computer hardware equipment
-
individuals
-
partisan political purposes

loans

Friends of Rutherford Pool:
Operating Support - funding to maintain the operation of the
pool during Summer 2005 - $3,000
The Gilbert Residence: Bird
Aviary - funding for a bird aviary to provide a stimulating
environment for physically and cognitively impaired seniors
by promoting the pleasurable sights and sounds of live birds

Babies First Program - funding to prevent birth defects
caused by alcohol use during pregnancy - $3,000
Student Advocacy Center:
Coach to College - funding to increase the number of foster
youth who attend secondary education - $3,000
Washtenaw Community College
Foundation: “Sisters” Substance Abuse Program - funding
for the "Sisters" substance abuse prevention and empowerment
program for girls ages 12-17 who reside in Southeast
Ypsilanti - $3,000
