Also known as a geographic component fund, an affiliate fund is a smart way for a community to support local charities without taking on the cost and administrative burden of managing an endowment. While retaining its own local identity, affiliate funds benefit from the reduced administrative expenses while having access to the professional staff, fund management, and investment expertise of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.   Each affiliate fund has its own Advisory Committee with members that are all residents of (or employees in) its area.  All fundraising is conducted locally and all grants benefit the local community.
